Wanting to create more space in their Palm Beach home, this family of five trusted their home renovation journey to Purcell Homes, beginning talks in June with plans to be back home by Christmas.

James and his wife Laura had a primary objective of creating more space in their home. With three growing children, it was time to action their plans for a full home renovation in beautiful Palm Beach, Queensland. Extending their home from three to four bedrooms, to one-and-a-half bathrooms, along with an extra living area, gave them another third of the house at the back, including the installation of their patio.
Hoping to preserve some elements of their house, James and Laura chose to reuse their existing floorboards and window frames. We worked with timber specialists to identify and match the type of flooring, finding a local supplier from a sustainable plantation which gave us the old-and-new integration we were after, and helped us remain on time and on budget.
When it came to the demolition, asbestos was found in the ceilings and walls, which caused a halt to the renovations. The ceiling-roof access was cut-off, which meant the Purcell Homes team had to come up with a solution to inspect the rest of the house, especially the ceiling, to ensure all asbestos was removed. Once cleared and safe to continue, renovations were quickly back on track.
