The best performing homes are designed as a whole system, with each element working together. For homes on the Gold Coast, that means considering the local climate, site orientation, shading, glazing, insulation, airtightness, ventilation and the way the home is designed to manage heat and moisture.

New homes and townhouses on the Gold Coast must meet Queensland’s current residential energy efficiency requirements under the National Construction Code (NCC) 2022, and Queensland Development Code 4.1. Queensland Government – Residential energy efficiency standards
Since 1 May 2024, new houses and townhouses are required to achieve a minimum 7-star energy equivalence rating for the building shell (roof, walls, floors and windows). New homes must also meet an energy budget which considers the energy use of appliances such as air conditioning, hot water and lighting, and on-site solar where applicable.

There isn’t a one-size-fits-all price for a sustainable home. The cost depends on the design, site, size, materials, level of performance and the systems you choose.
Sustainable building doesn’t simply mean adding expensive products. Often the biggest improvements come from good design and getting the fundamentals right. We work with you to understand your priorities and budget, then identify what investment in building performance will make the most sense for your home.
Not necessarily. Some high-performance features require additional upfront investment, but many improvements come from design decisions rather than expensive products. These can reduce ongoing energy and maintenance costs over the life of your home. We help you prioritise the measures that make the most sense for your budget and the way you want your home to perform.
Every project is different, and timing depends on the scope, selections, approvals and our current workload.
New homes and larger extensions typically require more time for design, planning and approvals, with construction potentially commencing around 4–6 months from the start of the process. The entire process, from consultation to completion, can take anywhere between 8 to 18 months.
